ERASMUS+

ERASMUS+ PROJECT:
LIFE SKILLS, AIKIDO & SUSTAINABILITY

Project aims
The project comprises three main objectives:

  1. To promote social inclusion among children and young adults through the development of life skills while also guiding them in environmental awareness. Life skills reflect the values of Aikido.
  2. To implement networking between Aikido schools and dojos at European level. This project has been made possible thanks to the collaboration among Aikido Wa Go Dojo (Italy), Aikido Mayo (Ireland) and Akademia Ruchu i Zdrowia Sakura (Poland).
  3. To produce the world’s first manual on Aikido-based teaching methods and specific exercises to develop and enhance life skills. This manual will be made available free of charge to all Aikido instructors in Europe.

What are we going to do?

Children and young adults will learn or strengthen their life skills through the practice of Aikido. Aikido teachers and coaches will be trained to recognise life skills within Aikido practice and to support young people in developing them.

What are life skills or soft skills?

They encompass a collection of personal and interpersonal abilities crucial for navigating relationships and effectively managing daily challenges. The absence of these social-emotional competencies, especially among youth, can lead to the adoption of negative and risky behaviors as a response to stress.
